The morning we take the street

The Pride Rally and March is the protest at the heart of the festival. We gather at the corner of Ann and Brunswick Streets in Fortitude Valley, hear from the people doing the work, then march together to New Farm Park where Fair Day carries the day on.

The march steps off

We step off from the corner and walk through to New Farm Park. It takes about an hour, and there is no rush.

The rally

Speeches from community leaders, activists and allies before the march steps off. This is the part of the day that remembers what Pride is for: it started as a protest and the work is not finished.

The march

Riders lead, the giant rainbow flag follows, and behind it come community groups, floats, families and friends. Bring your flags, your placards and the people you love.

    Find your group, pick up a flag and get ready.

  2. 9:30am

    Rally begins

    Speeches from community leaders, activists and allies.

  3. 10:00am

    March steps off

    We walk from the Valley through to New Farm Park.

  4. 11:00am

    Arrive at New Farm Park

    Fair Day is already open, and runs until 5pm.

Arrival time is approximate and depends on the march.

LGBTIQA+ people, allies, families, friends and supporters. Whether this is your first march or your fortieth, there is a place for you in it.

Fortitude Valley station is a short walk from the gathering point.
Bus
Services run along Ann Street and Brunswick Street.
Driving
Valley parking is limited on event days, so public transport is easier.
Getting home
New Farm Park is the finish point, so plan your return trip from there.

The march needs people to run it safely. One form covers the Rally and March and Fair Day, so put your hand up for either or both.

Questions

Do I need to register?

Not as an individual. The Rally and March is free and open, so you can simply turn up. If you are bringing a group, a float or a banner contingent, please register so we can plan the marching order.

Where does it start and finish?

We gather at the corner of Ann and Brunswick Streets in Fortitude Valley from 9am. The rally begins at 9.30am and the march steps off at 10am, arriving at New Farm Park around 11am, where Fair Day runs until 5pm.

Can allies march?

Yes. The march is for everyone who believes in equality: LGBTIQA+ people, allies, families and friends. Bring whoever you want beside you.

What should I wear and bring?

Whatever makes you feel proud, with shoes you can walk in. Bring water, sunscreen and a hat. Flags and placards are very welcome.

Is the march accessible?

We are confirming accessibility arrangements for the new route and will publish the detail here before the day. If you have an access requirement, contact us ahead of time and we will work it out with you.
