The Carswell Forum

A flagship forum for LGBTIQA+ Queensland

In Memory

Named for Phil Carswell

Named in honour of the late Phil Carswell, the Forum recognises his lifelong commitment to social justice, advocacy and community empowerment. His legacy is reflected in the Forum’s focus on ensuring lived experience is central to discussion and decision-making, and in its commitment to constructive dialogue, solidarity and meaningful progress.

What We Discuss

Persistent & Emerging Issues

Each year, the Forum explores both persistent and emerging issues affecting LGBTIQA+ communities – such as access to inclusive services, mental health supports, and the unique challenges faced by regional and rural communities. Lived experience stays central to every session, shaping the questions we ask and the priorities we set.

From Dialogue to Action

Translating Discussion Into Strategy

By bringing together diverse voices and expertise, the Forum aims to translate discussion into practical, actionable strategies that guide advocacy, policy engagement and service delivery over the year ahead.
