The Wickham Hotel: Fortitude Valley Icon

The Wickham Hotel in Fortitude Valley has been synonymous with Brisbane’s queer nightlife since the 1980s. Known for its legendary drag shows, dance floors, and as a meeting place for the community, The Wickham has witnessed every chapter of Brisbane’s LGBTQ+ history over the past four decades.

After a controversial redevelopment in 2015 that saw the original heritage pub demolished, the new Wickham reopened and continued to serve as a vital queer space in the Valley.
